The CrossFit Open is one of the best times of year here at Defiance Fit. It’s a time when athletes come together to workout, refocus on their fitness goals, cheer on one another, test their limits, and create new goals for the following year.

DIFFERENT THIS YEAR

No matter your current fitness level or length of time doing CrossFit, there is so much to be gained from participating in The Open.

The Open will look a bit different this year. Below, we have outlined the 2021 CrossFit Open and how to register.

WHAT IS THE CROSSFIT OPEN?

The 2021 CrossFit Games Open is a three-week competition open to anyone. Competitors are given one workout to complete each week and submit their scores online.

CAN I STILL COMPETE IF I HAVE TO SCALE WORKOUTS?

Yes! There’s even a scaled division! The Open serves as a fantastic test of fitness but also a pathway to grow and add fitness to the bank over years and years. Yes, there is scaling, and we highly encourage you to participate in the Scaled division.

WHAT’S DIFFERENT THIS YEAR?

This year’s Open will be the most accessible in CrossFit history. It will have flexible options for participants to compete at their local gym and at home should they face any COVID-19 related closures.

Obviously we fall into the latter and will still be shut due to government restrictions. However, we still would like you all to sign up and we will be hosting via Zoom our Friday night lights. We believe that the best way to run the Open is to keep that awesome community atmosphere so this year we are asking you all to do the zero equipment versions with us on Zoom and Friday night lights. 

If you choose to do the Open with Full or Basic equipment you must ensure that you read rules and regulations on CrossFit.com and meet all the requirements about exactly what equipment is needed and how to submit videos to be judged by your coaches. (More information will follow on this topic)

We will run the full Open later in the year (June/July) when we are able to all be back in the gym together. It will take the form of a Community throw down with food and drink etc.
